About Nippon Restaurant
Nippon Japanese Restaurants is a Houston’s longest-established Japanese restaurant, circa 1986. We are located conveniently near the Museum district and bustling Westheimer area of Houston. Sushi has and will always be a stronghold of our restaurant and we are looking for new sushi chefs to maintain and even elevate our products. Our inventory consists largely of merchandise flown in from Tsukiji, a delight for our customers and our chefs to work with.

As a Sushi Chef, you will be part of a team overseeing the workings of the sushi aspect of the restaurant.
Responsibilities include:
Food preparation such as filleting fish, cutting vegetables for rolls, presentation, etc.
Preparing and dressing sushi (nigiri and rolls) and sashimi style dishes along with appetizers prepared at the sushi bar.
Work in front of guests while preparing dishes with a bright and inviting demeanor.
Perform inventory and quality checks for the sushi bar side.
Maintain the cleanliness of the sushi bar side cooking areas, sushi counters, equipment, etc.
Perform additional assigned duties as instructed.
Job Qualifications:
Sushi experience required - Competitive salary
Knowledge of food preparation and techniques
Open minded and willingness to learn
Communication and organizational skills
Consistency under pressure
Additional Info:
Guaranteed 2 days off every week, as we are closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $40,000.00 to $50,000.00 /year
